Hi, Tyler —
A poet is a poet. Blake was a believer of sorts,
and his poetry is considered excellent by many critics.
It used to be featured in Catholic elementary and
middle school anthologies.
There is never a reason for a Catholic to avoid
true art, unless:
- it is an occasion of sin or
- unless it is blasphemous and witnessing it would
give scandal.
Propagating any art or artist is never the duty
of a Catholic, and should always be done prudently,
considering the audience and the effect.
If an artist
uses his art to propagandize, then it
is no longer art.
