Mary Ann replied:

Hi, J.L. —

Some seminaries may be, both Protestant and Catholic. The Anglicans have accepted homosexual clergy, as have other mainline Protestant denominations. The colleges of the U.S. also try to give orientations to their students in which they promote homosexual activity, as does the (UN)
United Nations and (PP) Planned Parenthood, as you can see from this week's story about a
UN/PP presentation for the Girl Scouts. In one report, a majority of homosexuals have admitted to a preference for younger males.

Attempts are being made by homosexual organizations in the US, and have been successful in other countries, to lower the age of consent to 12 or 14. Sexual abuse in the Church is primarily same-sex, but the problem of sexual abuse is not a Catholic one, it is a societal one.

It is popularly identified with the Church because it can be sued and because it is unified.
Public school districts, for instance, have as many sex offenders transferred around, but they can leave one district and go to another, and no overarching authority can be held responsible.

Hi, J.L. —

I just wanted to add to what my colleague Mary Ann has said.

This type of behavior is unacceptable in any manner in any Catholic seminary. If anyone reading this  posting knows of a seminary that has this problem it is their moral obligation to notify the local bishop of this immediately.

If the local bishop ignores your concerns, use the following hierarchy of responsibility.

Notify:

  • the Cardinal that oversees your area then
  • the Apostolic Nuncio or country representative for the Vatican in each country

As a last resort, notify the Vatican directly! My Vatican Postal Addresses web page has many,
if not all, the required addresses. Although the Apostolic Nuncio will change on a semi-regular basis, the current Apostolic Nuncio can be found on their website.

One cannot totally blame the Church hierarchy, if silent people, inside and outside the Church,
are an accomplice to a scandalous problem like this. One has to act!

The Church cannot act on something, She has not been made aware of.

Hope this helps,

Mike
