Hi, guys —
I have a friend who was a lapsed Catholic and who married in the Presbyterian Church.
She has returned to the faith and was confirmed in the Catholic Church a few years ago. She is seeking a divorce from her husband, who has not financially contributed to the support of their family in some time.
- Should the divorce happen?, and
- Will she be free to marry another Catholic in the Roman Catholic Church?

Anyone who marries needs an annulment in order to marry again unless their spouse dies.
Under certain circumstances (e.g. a Catholic who marries outside of the Church) this annulment may be merely procedural, but it is still required.

Thanks for the question.
It sounds like your friend was married outside the Catholic Church, and therefore her marriage is likely a defacto annulment. The ex—'s financial contribution really has no bearing on the matter.
In any case, the answer is probably, yes, but she will need to consult her local parish or diocese for more information regarding her particular circumstances.
